Ayurveda is a system developed in India, and today it is a way of life for many people who live there. Ayurveda works on the principle of three Doshas which are Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Each Dosha inherits different characteristics from Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. Everything found in nature can be interpreted as having a balance of one or more of the Doshas.
Why to Use them
Each herb and seed has its characteristics that go along with each Dosha, such as how it tastes (sweet, salty, sour, etc.), to if it grows above or below ground, and how it impacts the body. The herbs and seeds that are found in Ayurveda can help ease symptoms or help cure a disease. One of the ways that people use these herbs and seeds is by taking herbal drinks (teas) and using them as oils and skin treatments.
